Obsidian (A Lux Novel)

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout All you need in a book to make your reading experience the best one ever are:1) a swoon - worthy male lead ✓2) a kickass female lead ✓3) an awesome story line ✓This book was surprisingly good despite its kind of cliche story line. After hearing a lot of good comments about this book, I decided to pick it up. The first few chapters were disappointing due to its trite concept but then I slowly started enjoying this book. It was mainly due to the awesome characters whom I found to be very entertaining and likable.Right now, I'm not disappointed at all. In fact, I'm buzzing with excitement for the next book!Meet Katy Swartz Katy has moved away from her old life due to her father's death for a fresh start. While she's settling into her new home, she meets Daemon. Why does when the main character move to a different place does she have to meet the other main lead? I found this part to be very very cliche. But I ignored it and found the rest of the story to be amazing. “The day my internet was hooked up was better than having a hot guy check out my butt and ask for my phone number.” I really liked Katy. She was tough and resilient. Sometimes I found her to be a little annoying but you know what? Just ignore that and continue reading because this is an amazing book and you don't want to notice all these tiny factors.Meet Daemon Black “Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.” Daemon was a complete dickhead. Katy describes him better than I do. He was really rude and annoying in the beginning but Aremtrout can make a dickhead look hawt and sexy.Daemon had his reasons for being a complete dickhead to her. And as we proceed more deeply into the story it is kind of hard not to love Daemon. The name itself screams I'm hot, love me! “I've always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect." His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. "The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It's just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.” Katy and Daemon ignite a spark. You can feel it while you're reading it. It's hard to ignore or dislike them. The triteness of the story - line slowly fades as you keep reading. The concept is very different and if you haven't read much of YA, I would suggest you go with this book before reading something else. In the end
